With the United Nations estimating 2 billion new homes needed to support a growing world population, expected to reach 11.2 billion by 2100, how do architects and the building industry sustain ecological systems with means sufficient to engage with the complexity of the natural environment?
This research proposes a new design and manufacturing methodology for architectural ceramics that leverages both heterogeneities and mass production capable of supporting variation in bespoke facade components at a large scale in creating urban habitats.
