Decibel

How to design a future library that is future-proof? This project intends to get away from physical partitions, and the rigid arrangement of fixtures, and utilize only acoustic as the primary element of partition. Utilizing a field of sound-absorbing panels forming hemispherical domes, this design allows for the simultaneous dwelling of quiet individuals and loud discussion groups with no visual barrier.

Libraries have always been associated with the idea of static and heavy. But with the constant movement of people in and out of space, they are actually a place that requires adaptability and flexibility. The proposal uses an open floor plan combined with machine learning technology to generate the most efficient spacial configuration for the current people density in the library according to the distribution of singles, small groups, and large groups.
